Champagne Paul Déthune Brut Rosé Grand Cru 75cl

For a full-bodied Champagne, look no further than Paul Déthune’s stunning Ambonnay Grand Cru Brut (non-vintage).

The high levels of Pinot Noir 70% and oak aging give a floral, yeasty nose and a rich palate of brioche and candied peel with a long dry finish, extremely delicious. The Déthune family have been growers in the Grand Cru Village of Ambonnay (also referred to as the “King of Pinot Noir”) for nearly 200 years, in their constant drive for perfection it seemed natural to farm sustainably and biodynamically, even the oak for their barrels and cuves are sourced from local forests. It is this unstinting drive for extremely high quality that puts this small cult house right up there in the Pantheon of the very best in the whole of Champagne. The Dethune vineyards are located literally next to the legendary Krug “Clos’ d’Ambonnay” terroir. The quality of the Déthune champagne is stunningly good, however, at a fraction of the interstellar price of its legendary neighbor.

Champagne doesn’t get any richer than Ambonnay, and this Paul Déthune is very full-bodied and yet so easy to drink and light on its feet. An absolute bargain. For lovers of Charles Heidsieck and Krug. It’s a forceful, textural, opulent style of Champagne.
